Impressions of my visit in Germany in summer 2019!
A family with a good heart - inspiring for children's better future in Nepal
When I come Germany, I learn so many things from the Schoenebeck Family. Their engagement to support people in other countries inspire me to do more. Their heart and kindness to Nepal and its children I found very much encouraging. Since last 12 years, the family who has formed a foundation has been supporting Nepal. Every year, during Christmas or birthday celebration of their kids, they talk about Nepal and collect cash instead of gift and donate to Plan. What a novel idea, just to think other's world to make them happy too.
We are in regular contact with the foundation since 2008 and sharing/exchange information about the work and situation of Nepal. I am very grateful with the family, whom we met three times since then. Every time I come here, I realise that if there is will, nothing is impossible. I also got opportunity to understand many aspects of German family, their community and of course their kindness to others. Most importantly, their continued efforts to collect donation and support the communities in my country. (See the whole story, link it with fundraising)
This year, I spend almost 10 days with the family. This enabled us to travelled together in several areas in Germany. I saw the country has been much developed, everyone is busy. The most exciting for me was – there were so many cars and I ever assumed whether the car is driven by people or just moving automatically. We did hike together, visited the communities, college and parties that provided me to talk more about the situation of Nepal and its children and the work we are doing for a better future for the children.
After my trip to Plan International Germany/Foundation was over in Eltville, where I talked about the positive impact created in Nepal with the help of Foundation specially about Kamalari project, education in Dolpa, school rebuilt/renovated after the Nepal quake. These impact were not simply possible if we had not received support from the generous German people through Foundation. It made me excited when there are numbers of foundations people showed interest to support in new project.
My organisation now has stated a new project in one of the remotest areas in Nepal, Karnali province, we will be working there for improving the quality of education. Many of the school do not have good classrooms and learning materials. The teachers don't have much skills for teaching. Just a little support can change the learning environment for children in Jumla. With the evidence of past, the change is possible in new areas too.
